Baby Pillsbury

It's always fun when a good friend has a baby, especially when this good friend is one of your longest lifelong friends.  I posted a couple of weeks ago about meeting baby Kate Pillsbury at the hospital, but yesterday Kinsey asked me to come over to take some pictures of Kate for funzies.  And so I did.  It was my first time taking pictures of a baby with my new camera, and I learned (after looking at the pictures this morning on my computer) that I needed a lot more light than I thought.  I guess this whole photography thing is about learning and being patient, but I'm not one with a ton of patience and it's a bummer that more pictures didn't come out.  Oh well.  I did get a couple of good ones though:

Beautiful Kate:

Just being freaking cute:

I can't wait to have our baby so baby Kate has a friend!  And for many other reasons of course.

For now, Kate will be my baby muse.

OMG NKOTBSB!

This past weekend Colin and I went up to Kansas City to visit our friends.  Ok fine, we went so I could see New Kids on the Block and Back Street Boys with Jessie and Katie.  We went as a goof, but honestly it was really fun.  First, I hadn't told Jessie that we had floor seats and when I did, she totally started to tear up.  She LOVES BSB and has for years.  She's seen them 6 times and even caught a sweat towel at one of their concerts.  Some might find this kind of gross, but it was one of the top 10 things to happen to Jessie during her adolescent years, right behind my mom letting her wax her eyebrows.

So before the concert Katie and Jessie had a few cocktails.  I had the following:

We headed to the concert (some of us buzzed on cocktails, one buzzed on excitement).

Our seats were perfect.  Here are a few shots (iPhone photos so they aren't the best quality):

Fun Fact: New Kids on the Block was my first concert.  New Kids on the Block was also my baby's first concert.  Baby obviously has good taste in music.

Second Fun Fact: Jessie shook Jonathan Knight's hand.  He came down the aisle next to us, and I shoved Jessie to the front so she could touch him.  I haven't seen 9 year old Jessie this happy since she completed her Pokemon collector cards and had them in their proper laminated sleeves.  Let's not tell Jessie that Jonathan Knight is gay.  That might ruin it for her.

Jessie was on a roll this weekend, I'll say that much.  She bought Baby a dress.  Ummm cute!!

I bought Baby a swimsuit coverup for our first Mexico beach trip next spring.  Throw some baby sunglasses, a two piece swimsuit, and some sandals on and she'll be stylin'.

Backstreet's Back, ALRIGHT!

Pizza Oven - Take 1

This weekend marked the official groundbreaking ceremony for Pizzeria Colindo, McCartney backyard Bistro.  With the help of his brother Kevin and nephew Charlie, Colin began his journey into Italian manhood.  I am the photojournalist of said construction and will be bugging Colin and pizza building entourage during the process in order to document the bitching, cussing, and hopefully successful engineering of a thing you put wood in, to build a fire, to make hot enough, to cook pizza.  Good luck to us all.

Man and Cinder Blocks

An impromptu workout, perhaps?

Looks fun.  Jealous.

Don't worry, Charlie.  We'll pay you $10/hour to help.  You can smile now.

Did Kevin add a little Jim Beam to his Coke?  I wouldn't blame him if he did.

POWER TOOLS!!

Remember this, Colin: The man holding the power tool knows best.

And last but not least: The Peanut Gallery

Kitchen Remodel - complete

Colin and I just finished up our kitchen remodel, and we're really happy with the outcome.  Here are some before and after shots.

Ah Stove - We shall cook on ye for years!!  (Am I at the Renaissance Festival??)

We have under the counter lights!!

I'll post some master bath remodel pictures as soon as it's finished and repainted.  Right now, it looks like a Smurf chose the paint color.  I guess that's what happens when you let a man pick the paint.  (Kidding, I totally picked it: FAIL on my part.)

It's been awhile

It was just brought to my attention that I haven't blogged in awhile.  I don't have much time today so I'll make this one short and sweet.

First, I had an awesome weekend with my friend Keri, her husband Ryan, and their perfect babies Sage and Avery last weekend.  I went down to Houston for a photography class Keri set up at her house.  As soon as I figure out how to get my pictures from my new camera to the computer, I'll share.  Here's a cute picture of little Avery.  I can't believe how much she has grown in the past few months!!

Isn't she pretty?!?!?

Next, another lifelong friend of mine, Kinsey Pillsbury, just gave birth to her little girl Kate.  Colin and I went and visited Kinsey, Ed, and Kate at the hospital the day after she was born.  Kinsey and I have always been competitive with one another.  We competed on the same gymnastics team and then different teams our whole lives.  At every competition, Kinsey was my most challenging competitor.  Here's one thing I'll let Kinsey win, hands down: longest labor ever.  Yep, good ole Kins gets the gold medal on that one.  I don't even want to compete.

Here I am practicing my baby skills on baby Kate:

And I saved the best for last.  Drum roll......

We went in for a sonogram last week, and our doctor could tell (he says he is 90% sure) THAT WE'RE HAVING A BABY GIRL!!  YEAH!!!

There's some stiff competition between baby girls on this blog post.  Good Lord the cuteness is out of control!!!

Until next time,
