But there is a reason the Texas State Fair runs for more than one week. It's for those classy folk that crave the excitement of the Midway, for those who can't eat just one Fletcher's corn dog a year, for those who must return to see their favorite Dodge Hemi one more time. Colin and I are those people.
Make fun of us all you like, but you and I both know you'd have rather eaten this for lunch instead of that wilted salad you brought from home.
Cheers!
And maybe a little of this for dessert (water since we're on a diet)
PS - I'm looking forward to my glucose test on Friday. If I don't pass, I'm blaming it on the powdered sugar.
After sufficiently stuffing my growing belly (obviously my belly is all baby at this point, has nothing to do with the pictures above) Colin and I walked through the car shows to pick out Aidan's first car. I was immediately drawn to the Fiat. Have you seen the new commercials featuring one of my all time favs JLo driving through the Bronx?
I'm just Stevie, Stevie from the block
Clearly JLo and I have more in common than I thought: our love for Track Suits circa 2002, developing fake latin accents in a pinch, and Fiats. Call me when you're in Big D, Jenny Lo. I'll show you around.
Colin needed a break from my nonsense so he blew off some steam by playing....
Skee-ball?
And then he was attacked by killer butterflies
A shout out to my best friend, Melissa Spencer. We've always said, they never play enough Erasure...or Prince. The State Fair does, Meliss. The State Fair does.
And no trip to the Texas State Fair is complete without the MOST RANDOM celebrity cut out sighting.
Who's the last person I thought we'd run into at the fair?
Believe it. This happened.
It's Kate Gosselin's bad hair TV mom - Sewing with Nancy
So, another season comes to a close. Next week there won't be any tortilla warmers to buy, no name license plates to look through, no chance of having your handwriting analyzed by an expert to see if your relationship will last. That's right. If you don't take care of these things in the next few days, you'll miss your chance until the carnies come back to entertain us next fall.
I'm here at my desk reflecting on how I feel right at this moment. It's almost like Christmas night. You know, the feeling you get when you're completely satisfied with the day, the family, the gifts, and yet you feel a twinge of pain in your chest? Hopefully it's not foreshadowing a heart attack caused by the corn dog and just a hint of sadness because I'll have to wait a whole year to indulge in a great day like today. A day I spent laughing with my partner in crime, my main man.
Until next year...
